Air Handling Units - AHU

AHU: what it’s used for

Our Air Handling Unit (aka AHU) is a complex device designed to control air conditions and parameters such as temperature and humidity.

As a result, USI Italia AHUs modify the chemical-physical parameters of the air before channeling it into the aeraulic circuit of the painting facility, in order to play a fundamental role to provide indoor air quality and working comfort.

USI Italia Air Handling Units: the essential components

The USI Italia AHUs are made up of several components, that together play key role to ensure the correct operation of the booths that affect air quality and the finished product.

They are generally composed of:

Outer casing in galvanized sheet metal
Supply and extraction fans
Class G4 synthetic flat filters
Pressure transducer and inverter for adjusting the air flow and flow rate
Water batteries with galvanized steel droplet separator and PVC plastic fins
Bypass system for the air handling unit that allows free-cooling in the intermediate seasons, maximizing the utilization of the free external heat inputs.
Humidity detection sensors in the booth, the air handling unit, and the air intake pipe.
Temperature detection sensors
A humidification section (when necessary)
A cross-flow heat recovery unit (optional, but generally always recommended to reduce the delta T of the incoming air).

USE LESS ENERGY WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE PROCESS

The heat recovery system and the innovative adiabatic humidification system allow the air to be delivered to the desired conditions within the booth with a minimum amount of energy.

USI Italia engineers are able to ensure the correct operating efficiency of AHUs thanks to the expertise acquired over the years by developing the appropriate sizing of both the machine (and therefore the correct air flow rates and speeds) and the ducting system.

Combinations with ADD-ON: heat recovery unit

These energy-intensive air treatment systems should always be equipped with cross-flow heat recovery systems, thus reducing energy demand.

Combinations with other products: Booths and Cargo

AHUs are generally required to be installed in paint finish facilities (Booths) or industrial facilities (Cargo).
